I am looking to put together a multi-room audio system with a Crestron Adagio AADS.
However, I am having difficulty understanding how the AADS will communicate with an audio server. I'm wondering if I can use a dedicated PC or server/hard drive (i.e. Infrant) for music storage and then stream music via TCP/IP with a Squeezebox connected to the Adagio. With the use of a squeezebox, can the Adagio view music (artist, genre, etc.) and control it (play, ffwd, rew, pause) with the use of Crestron remotes, touchpads or TV monitors?

Any help understanding how SB can communicate with audio distruibution systems would be appreciated.
Thansk advance for any help.

Matt

Hi Mattt
Are you a Crestron programmer? If not you might struggle with what you are trying to do

I'm not a programmer, but would like to find out whether the config is feasable and if so, what kind of effort is required by a experienced programmer. Has anyone setup their SB to work with Adagio? Any limitations?

....but, don't have experience with the Adagio setup at all. Since we're an AMX house now I can't give you the information you need, but maybe there are some Crestron experts here who can help

I'm not a Crestron "expert" but I do program Crestron systems at my new job. All i can say is : You can truly do anything with Crestron, anything. It just cost ridiculous amounts of money.

However, there is a module available in the plugins directory (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?PluginRemoteControls). But it's only a replica of the Squeezebox's display (2 lines).

If you want to have a "list" of artists to browse and fully use you panel's display, you're gonna have to invest into some custom programming.

I am currently working on a Crestron module, it seems to be very similar to the Controlworks module. The main difference between them is mine will be cheaper. I am hoping to upload a demo version of it by the end of the month. Users who purchase my module will also get free upgrades to all future versions.

Why do people like Crestron so much? It has terrible latency issues and compared to some of the higher end automation solutions i have seen, it isn't really impressive at all. I'm looking for a control solution for my home and am wondering what Crestron users think, as I was very disappointed by the Crestron system I had a chance to demo.

Was the demo unit a 2 series?

I'm not really sure. It was in a friend's home. The installation was recent and he is uing touchscreen LCD flatpanels for control.

In all fairness to the Crestron system I was comparing to a custom system that they use at Disney. The biggest issue for me w/ the Crestron system was latency.

Speed,

Looking forward to seeing your Crestron module. I'll be happy to test out the demo, and am willing to pay for the non-demo version if it works well.

Please post in General when you've got it ready.
