View Full Version : Faster Volume Up/Down

Now that the volume control on the squeezebox goes up to 100 instead of just
40, I find it now takes a lot longer to increase or decrease the volume -
which can be a pain if you're listening to it loud and the phone goes.

I'd like to throw a solution out there and see if anyone thinks it's a)
necessary and b) practical.

I propose that a function is added to increase or decrease the volume in
increments of 5 or 10 when the corresponding volume button is held down for
a couple of seconds or more.

What does everyone think? If there's a general agreement, I'll file an
enhancement request (unless anyone can tell me there's already one, in which
case, I'll shut up)

That's one of my few pet peeves as well.

Sounds like a good idea to me, too.

I think this is a good idea as well.

I run into this all the time when I decide to play music late at night. I start a song and suddenly realize I had the volume set too high from daytime listening. Then it's a mad dash to reduce the volume, and hope I didn't awake the wife.

while the actual increments don't change, the volume ramp does
accelerate the longer you hold the button.

anyone running slimserver.pl can easily change the value and suggest a
better value to match their preferred results. The change would be in
Buttons/Input/Bar.pm, around line 260:
my $accel = 8;
