In the technical info in slimserver it states

In addition, there is a shortcut URL to return the artwork of the currently
playing song for a player:

http://<server>:<port>/music/current/cover.jpg?player=<playerid>
http://<server>:<port>/music/current/thumb.jpg?player=<playerid>

where:

<server> is the ip address or name of the server.
<port> is the HTTP port of the server (not the same as the CLI port).
<playerid> is the unique identifier for the player, as above. If omitted,
the server will use a random player.

Anybody able to get the artwork (what port is the http port ?) can you use
localhost ?

Port is 9000. In fact I'm sure you're using it: open the web interface and
have a look at one of the cover arts URL - it will be exactly what is
described in the documentation.

by default, 9000, same as you'd use to get the web interface for slimserver.
you may chnage this in server settings, and would have to use that
port number if you changed it.

if you are on the same machine as slimserver, most times you can.
some cases have shown that localhost isn't always 100%, but 127.0.0.1
is.
