View Full Version : Random mix not adding albums?

Hi,
Lately when I try random mix by album, once it hits the end of an album, it just stops, and the SB powers off! I can manually add a random album to the end of the playlist, but then same thing happens.
I'm running 6.5 on XP - and I'm pretty sure the first couple of times I used random mix, it worked fine (automatically added albums).
I haven't seen anything in bugzilla exactly like this - is this a known bug, or is there something I don't have set up right?
Thanks gang!

Edit: while I'm here - does it make sense that the SS browser UI stops refreshing if I open another browser window to come ask questions?

--d_plugins will show you what is going on with the random play routines.

you've got old templates lying around.

delete Plugins/RandomPlay/HTML/Default and
Plugins/RandomPlay/HTML/Fishbone
all that should be left if Plugins/RandomPlay/HTML/EN/

and you'll need to clear your caches and restart the server to wipe out
it's filecache.

6.5.1 nightly builds should be removing these files now.

When you say clear caches, you mean Delete Temporary Internet files?
Thanks kdf!

might be it. I'm not an IE user. Usually any old cached info will
clear up with a few clicks of the refresh button, or a SHIFT-reload.
you'll know when that string warning stops appearing. Also, becuase of
that the Play random artist line doesn't work. The right template
should have that.

Thanks kdf - deleting the templates and restarting seems to have fixed things up!

I've got a similar problem where I select Random Album Mix, and it starts playing a random album, but no additional albums are added to the list automatically. I also recall it working correctly shortly after I installed, but now it simply stops playing anything after the first random album is finished. Here's the relevant part of my d_plugin log:

Prevent Standby plugin: client Local in playmode play
Prevent Standby plugin: setting thread execution state
Prevent Standby plugin: starting timer
RandomPlay: Play button pushed on type album
RandomPlay: playRandom called with type album
RandomPlay: 13 songs remaining, songIndex = 0
RandomPlay: Starting random selection of 1 items for type: album
RandomPlay: Find returned 1 items
RandomPlay: Playing album: One Second, 1916
RandomPlay: Playing static album mode with 12 items
Prevent Standby plugin: client Local in playmode play
Prevent Standby plugin: setting thread execution state
Prevent Standby plugin: starting timer
...
...
...

Prevent Standby messages continue to print, but no RandomPlay messages ever reappear. Any ideas?

the message above says you are in static mode, so it won't be adding
any albums.
do you have the "Add new items when old ones finish" box checked on
the random mix page?

No, I didn't - in fact, it took a little time to find that page on the UI, but now that I see it, it's of course quite trivial. Thanks!
