What is the best way to go about playing all songs in the library in a
random order. I have tried to >Browse Artists >All Albums >Play

This appears to bring the server down immediately. I have also tried
making a playlist with the entire library in it with itunes with the
same results when I try to play it.

I have 6300 songs in the library.
OS X
Server 5.0.1
Squeezbox

That certainly don't happen here.

~3500 songs with Linux, 5.0.1cvs, one squeeze and one slimpy.

How long of a delay before your long playlist starts? I have waited
for a few minutes and finally just restart the server.

I can't remember a noticeable delay at all. But I also don't think I've
tried to shuffle-play the lot while the server was still doing its
startup scan. I'm sure that would have an effect.
