View Full Version : 1 Squeezebox, 1 Transporter, same room .. how separate remotes?

Hi,

Currently checking out newly arrived Transporter in same room as Squeezebox.

Noticed that the remote for either unit controls both units .. so if I turn off 1 unit, the other turns on, for example.

Is there any way to associate each remote with a particular device and only that device? I have been able to do that with (say) 2 vcr remotes controlling 2 vcrs.

Thanks,
Mark M.

I'm using hardware: put a book in front of the player you don't want to
control :-)

Thanks! I suppose some opaque reading material would be best. I never could see my way through Joyce's Ulysses ..

I would set one to respond to the JVC codes, the other to respond to
the Slim devices codes.

Sounds good to me. How do I do that? Or rather, please point me to docs.

Well, I'm not using 6.5 yet (I run it on my Infrant NAS), so I'm not
sure in 6.5. I believe it is under player settings somewhere. Sorry
I can't be more specific (I'm several states away from my slimserver
setup at the moment).

This will, of course, mean you need to use 2 different remotes (or a
universal remote with both codes). Still better than using a book.

No need for docs, it's in Player Settings - Remote and is set player-by-player.

Thanks for pointing me to the settings in the web interface. I enabled jvc-dvd only for the Squeezebox, and disabled jvc-dvd for the Transporter.

Result is the Squeezebox doesn't respond to either remote and the Transporter responds to both. This makes sense to me. Provided there is some way to set the original Squeezebox remote to output jvd-dvd codes only.

How?

Thanks all.

Nobody seems to have mentioned that in order for this method to work, you need a JVC DVD remote. (Or a universal remote outputting JVC DVD codes)

Ah, thank you very much. Now it's clear. I suppose it was assumed obvious. And you know what 'assume' means.

Thanks,
