View Full Version : 6.5 analog output levels are higher?

I just upgraded from 6.3 to 6.5. I have one SqueezeBox using RCA outputs to a self-powered set of speakers. The analog output now appears much higher. For example, while in the past a volume setting of 20 was fine, now at 20 I just get complete distortion of the audio. This also happens if I use the headphone output instead of the RCA jacks. The preamp setting is at zero.

Any way to adjust this back to 6.3 output levels?

The volume was rescaled - note it goes from 0-100 rather than 0-40 now.

If it was linear this would suggest that a setting of 50 would be equivalent to 20, which is obviously not the case in your setup.

Either adjust the volume lower or put an attenuation value in the preamp volume control. Note this is an attenuation:

This is a secondary volume control which applies only to the analog outputs on Squeezebox. Enter the amount of attenuation in decibels. Range is 0.0 to 63.0 in 0.5 db steps. The default is 0 (for full volume).
