View Full Version : Dropouts ( Does this thing work under XP?)

Let me clarify the No Network issue.
I'm only utilizing < 4% of the available network.
I've tried 2 different routers, hard wired, WiFi, cables etc....
The Squeezebox and the Server were the only items connected.

I've setup (several times) a 5.0.0 installation, and all works 90% ok (a few
drops per song, but it will at-least play)
When I upgrade to 5.0.1 it's Much worse. (MUCH!)
I've done the upgrade several ways.
Re booting between every step (install 5.0.0 [reboot] test [reboot]
upgrade [reboot] test)
Not re-booting (install 5.0.0 test upgrade)
The result is the same.
The last test case (never re-booting) is interesting since Nothing else has
changed except the 5.0.1 software / firmware upgrade.

if this is the case,

then this is a questionable statement. The 5.0.1 server should be less
sensitive to bad gear, but I still spent quite a while troubleshooting a bad
NetGear switch that seemed okay for normal traffic and fell apart exactly as
you describe when streaming music. Try a direct cross-over cable between the
server and the slimp3.

That's a problem. What you're saying is that it doesn't work in any of
the configurations you've tried.
