View Full Version : cue sheets, mp3s and player sync

Hi,

I'm having a bit of trouble synchronizing with cue sheets.
I cannot get a continuous mix mp3+cue sheet that I made for an
upcoming Christmas party to play synchronized without gaps
on more than one player. It plays without gaps on a single
player ok. All players are on 802.11b.

This is with the nightly build. I dropped back to 4.2.6 and
I have the same behavior. So my question is - should I be
able to play synchronized gapless cue+mp3? Would the higher
latency of the wireless setup have something to do with it?

I'm having a big Christmas party next weekend and I hope to
dazzle the guests with the Squeezebox and SLIMP3 setup (and
maybe give Slim Devices a few referrals!) I'm hoping that if
it's supposed to work that it can be fixed by then. If not,
I can work around it by not using the cuesheet at all.

I have --d_sync output if it helps, but it looks ok to me.

Thanks
--Jason

Seamless playback of cue sheets and sync don't really work together
well now because we resync at the end of every track, essentially
stopping and restarting in sync.

Was this ever improved on? I note the original posts are from 2003, but I still have this problem with more recent versions of slimserver driving synchronized SB2 and SB3.

I'm playing albums ripped to wav without gaps in the tracks. The playback is nice and continuous on a single player, but the gaps appear when syncing the two players. I assume its the same issue.

I'm using cat5 cable to both SBs, so don't we have enough performance available now to reduce the sync to something negligible?

Thanks,
sls
