Control Squeezebox which is connected to SqueezeNetwork only

Is it possible to control a SqueezeBox via TCP/IP (on/off, play/pause, volume) which is only connected to SqueezeNetwork (no SlimServer available)?

    Thanks

Yes, of course. When you're configuring the box you get a list of
available servers, one of which will be "Squeezenetwork".

      Michael,
Are you saying that a Squeezebox that is logged into SqueezeNetwork is listening for commands from other IP addresses?

I had assumed that once logged in ... it only spoke to SqueezeNetwork (plus whatever it is being told to stream from).

You can definately control (stop/start/play fav) a SqueezeNetwork connected player from the web interface to SqueezeNetwork itself.

The SB itself is not, but the server. You only can use the web interface,
the CLI does not exist on SQN.

I have to admit that I didn't fully understand your question when I
        answered it.

        That's true.

I think this is the only way for now. SD is planning on offering an API to
SQN as well, but I don't know where it is today.

A CLI like interface to directly control a player through the local network would be nice.

Yes, but only when using IE because of the javascripts (opera will not work).

Kewl! Nice alternative to a local CLI like interface. I tried to use the API but it is not online at this time.

After relogin Opera works now, too. Curious.
