View Full Version : UNC rejected for Slim Server 6.3.1 - 8468

Just did a clean install on a Windows XP laptop and rescan failed trying to access a music on a LAN drive using UNC.

I can access same drive using UNC from Windows Explorer and Command Promot.

Another server installed in another laptiop works using the same UNC all the time.

- Tried using upper case as used in another server, same error.

- Tried rebooting and log in again, same error.

The error received was:
New value for Music Folder rejected:
Oops - "\\trinity\media\flacs" doesn't seem to be a valid directory. Try again.

What can possibly be the problem?

By the way, tried something new that worked.

I tried running slim.exe from a command promot

The system is now scanning fine.

I think I heard somewhere that slim.exe uses a different user to access the network.

How do I fix this?

The network drive is run on my Buffalo LANstatation, which runs SAMBA

I know nothing about Linux

Permissions: while you have access right to that share, Slimserver is run
as user SYSTEM (or something) by default. Go to Settings/Administrative
Tools/Services and make it run as yourself.
