Running latest version of slimserver (just installed today)and when i do a search it stops the slimserver. I have to press stop and play to get it working again.
This has always happened and now the wife is killing me.

digital music player: roku m500
server: win 2k
music stored on a snap server mounted as a shared drive.

Anyone else?

My guess is that is it is a problem with the Roku emulation of a squeezebox.

Are you sending MP3 to Roku ?
If Roku does not get data within 6 secs it breaks connections and stops playing anything sent by Slimserver.

Try using d_source and look at log when making this happen.

All files are mp3. Library consists of roughly 22000 songs.

The error that is written to the log is:
2006-08-17 09:19:56.0146 00:0d:4b:03:75:a6: Underrun while this mode: playwith error

Are you running the really old version of SlimServer that Roku requires? Not much we can do to help you there...

Underrun means that data wasn't sent to Roku in time - with a real Squeezebox it continues when data is sent, with a Roku it just stops listening.

PM me - I might be able to provide a patch. Also you could just revert back to 6.2.2 version there is little in 6.3.x for a Roku user.

its done it with every version of slimserver ive run so far. maybe i should bite the bullet and just buy a SB3.

It looks like you may have reached the conclusion I did. If you prefer Slimserver to the other server apps, buying an SB3 is the better long term option.

However, I did a patch for a Roku for AlienBBC which is a similar problem you have and so it may work for you but it is only for 6.2.1 so you would need to install standard 6.2.1 and replace slim.exe by my file to test it.

You should bear in mind that 6 seconds is a long time to wait for data. With your current set up it sounds like you'll wait at least that long for the requested menu to arrive even if you have a SB3 (which is a far superior product by the way!).
