View Full Version : Forum replies are still not generating unique message-IDheader items for the mailing lists

Oh no, I've got mailing list replies that are connected to the wrong threads again.

I can see that the "message-ID" header item has been made bigger than it used to be, but sadly it's still not unique. As a result, a reply can end up threaded to some other message, and therefore I miss messages, or read messages that I've already marked as ignore. It's making the mailing list unusable.

Bug 2712 was raised over 8 months ago - it desperately needs fixing.

Have they ever disappeared? I think I've always had them... (and no, it's
not the forum users to be damned :-))

I've seen less of them, but they're still here yes...

I think it need fixing ASAP, people can miss lots of info from interesting threads
if posts ends up in different threads that might not be read...

In a slightly related vein, does anyone else find that the mailing list misses a few new threads?

Often I won't see the start of a thread but will see its responses.

Maybe it's just the consequence of the main issue: as the topic is started
within another thread, it has gone unread.

Probably not - I haven't been dipping into the discuss mailing list as much, due to the problem ;)
It's much less of a problem with other (lower traffic) lists such as "beta". Perhaps most people there use email?

Sorry, I was having some early morning frustrations. But it only goes wrong with people that post using the web forum ;-)

Sounds likely.

So can people that are affected by this please vote for bug 2712.
