I just happened to turn on this HGTV show, and they're doing a segment on the Squeezebox 3, right now. They've got a customer talking about it and they seem very happy (he has multiple Squeezeboxes and they show him outside listening to one with a set of powered speakers.)

It just came on at 10pm ET, and it's rerunning at 2am ET.

Did the Slim Devices people even know about this? I assume so since there's links to Slim Devices from the HGTV website: http://marketplace.hgtv.com/View_Listing.asp?CompanyId=0&RegionId=&SubCategoryId=1&Level=3&Keyword=&Page=1&PageSize=10&Sort=&SoL=&Episode=HITEC-102&IWTShow=5&Lid=1371-N608048

Dang, all they ever show here are home improvement shows. :-(

Sounds like there's a better version in the U.S.

My wife happened to have this show on and I saw it too, quite cool. :)

Yes, this is something that Patrick set up with the folks at HGTV.
Sounds like it came off well!

Yeah, that was the first thing my wife noticed.

I'm the guy 'Nathan' on the show. They filmed it
about 2 months ago and were at our house for about 2
hours, so we had no idea what footage they would use.
We watched it last night while on vacation and thought
that overall the segment came across pretty well. Its
weird seeing yourself on television for the first
time, but since i'm such a huge fan of the squeezebox,
i hope the segment turns a few new people onto the
product.

And i love SuperDateTime, so big props to the
developer for that. (They showed that screen more
than anything else because of licensing reasons they
couldnt show any of my actual collection 'playing'...)

Wonder if they could show "Pink Martini - Veronique" on TV?

Nice job Nathan! I'm happy with all of the plugin footage, however, I'm surprised they didn't mention its functionality in the segment.

Just my curiosity. How were you selected/approached for the show?

I'm curious too. Do you really stick those large speakers and a Squeezebox on your garden table whenever you want to listen to music outdoors.. or was that just for the purposes of the show?

Personally I turn up the indoors hifi and open the windows!

Nathan:

What speakers were you using? They look really nice and people ask for powered speakers all the time.

Actually I do. It takes about 2 minutes to move the
whole operation outdoors, so if we are planning on
being out there for more than about 15 minutes i'll do
it. if we have guests, i certainly will do it, but
i'll bring em out there even if i'm just doing
yardwork! when not outside though i use the set up in
our dining room.

Someone else recommended them here a while back and i
picked up them up and like them. They are the Edirol
MA-7A. Cost about $100, but they are small enough for
what I need and sound pretty good. I picked them up
from www.sweetwater.com.

Yeah, I see Nathan's response in there too. He definitely made an excellent case and did a good job.

Nathan: 2000 CDs? That's twice what I have. Nice.

Heh it got removed because of copyright I guess. I will see if we can get HGTV's permission, although I'm not sure how that info would get to Google. In the meantime I've uploaded it here:
