View Full Version : Weird problem

I realise that my last issue (see SliMP3... thread) was more damning of me than anything else, but this one's a weird one.

SlimServer is running on a new Infrant ReadyNAS NV, SlimServer Version: 6.2.2 - 7135 - Debian - EN - iso-8859-1

The SliMP3 player is running 2.3 Firmware.

I'm having problems playing FLACs.

They always return "Problem: Can't open file for:"

MP3s play fine. I have rescanned the music library, clearing the library and re-scanning everything. I have rebooted the ReadyNAS, and the SliMP3.

If I play the FLAC through SoftSqueeze, then it's fine. If I synchronise the SliMP3 with the SoftSqueeze, then I get the same problem on both devices.

Anyone got any ideas?

If you want to play FLAC's through SliMP3, they need to be converted
to mp3 on the fly. The means that you have to install LAME yoruself,
in a place where slimserver can find it, preferrably
slimserver\server\Bin\lame.exe. Check server->settings file types and
make sure that FLAC->mp3 conversion is enabled. It will automatically
get disabled if LAME cannot be found.

Many thanks again, kdf.

I guess that means I won't be converting everything to FLAC just yet, then. I don't believe that there's any hope of getting the ReadyNAS to run LAME on the fly.

I guess I should flog the SliMP3 players and upgrade to SB3s if I want to go down this route.

All the best.
