That's pretty close to what I'm seeing - 12,001 songs and 42.9MB under RH9.

Just for reference: 3,265 songs, 25MB, Gentoo 1.4 with 5.0.1

22849 songs, 64292k of RAM, Debian testing/unstable, fairly recent CVS.

24MB for 3759 songs (Linux) - 8MB less than for example Musicmatch Jukebox
on my Windows box with the same collection!
