Dean et al,

I've just ripped two CDs, both artists beginning with 'A'. I rescanned, no
joy, browse music directory, still can't see them. Stop and restart the slim
service, now they appear.

XP SP1, IE 6 Slim server version 5.0.1

How are folks managing updates to your music libraries, where Slim
Server is running on a machine separate from where you accumulate and
edit the primary music libabry with iTunes?

In *this* week's flavor of my Slimp3 implemenatation, I have moved
the server to a spare machine in the Living Room (versus using my
primary machine for server *and* daily use). In the former case, I
had just a single music library in Itunes to manage. Now with a
separate machine, I need some way to identify which files have been
chnaged, added, deleted, etc in order to update the remote music
library.

I realized that iTunes presents songs on the screen based on various
sorting criteria, but doesn't allow export / update of songs based on
that listing. It does if the remote library is an Ipod, however.

If the answer is to have only a single library, I'd like to hear
about that too.

Hopefully, I am missing something major, which solves this mundane
but important new challenge.

TIA

Jonathan

I don't have iTunes, but I've been scanning in my CD Collection on
a different machine than SlimServer is running on.

What I've done is commandeered an old (P200) machine put a
large hard disk in it and installed RedHat (Fedora Core1).

I setup Samba on that machine so that some of the drive space is
visible via Windows and explorer. I just dump all scanned data
directly to the same directory on that machine that SlimServer
uses. Everyone is kept up to date!
