Is There A Way - Projector, Wireless Sound To The Squeeze

Hello All. I do not know if this has been covered yet so....

I have a projector and a squeezebox 2. I play movies from the computer to the projector via vga cable using vlc (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)(i know, iknow, vga is not the best quality). I would like to send the sound wirelessly from vlc (via computer) to the squeezebox so I can have wireless sound (i guess using the squeeze almost as a soundcard).

I guess the question is ... has this been done, can it be done, and how can it be done.

    Thanks all (great forum)

Maybe make a stream of the audio in VLC... I have a simular set up
      potentially.

Not really possible I don't think - you'll never be able to get the sound and video in sync properly because of buffering in the audio stream. If you're streaming the video too (not clear from your post) then there's more buffering and it's even harder to sync.

This crops up quite often. Have a search for IceCast or ShoutCast to find some older threads.

I'm waiting for the Airport Express that does video as well as audio.

This request comes up every now & then - the main theoretical drawback is the sync of video and Audio. Mplayer has the ability to play DVDs and adjust video/audio timing so that one is ahead of the other. I'm not sure if VLC can do the same but it worth checking.

It would be interesting to try and see if it can be made to work.
