I've configured a number of radio stations, however, the following station only plays the ident and then never plays the live stream. I've tried URL snooper and Lynx to dump the http for the website but no joy. Can anyone help.

Main website: www.dee1063.com

The radio URLs I have tried are:

http://stream01.prostream.co.uk/dee1063?MSWMExt=.asf
HTTP://stream01.prostream.co.uk/dee1063

I am running 6.3.0 on Fedora Core 4.

Thanks for any help.

Nick

I used this tool from Roku today to snoop a radio URL I was having problems
with. It worked perfectly. It says on the Web page you need to install
Roku server software but that is not true, it works standalone. Play the
stream in a Web browser and this software will grab the url. It was
interesting in that the final URL I snooped was completely different from
what I THOUGHT I had partially snooped through my own efforts.

With all Roku has taken from Slim, it's good that they have something to
give back. :-)

Thanks for the link. I've tried that and none of the URLs found by
that software work:

mms://stream01.prostream.co.uk/dee1063
mms://stream01.prostream.co.uk/dee10633

When I add this to the Radio Tune In option it fails to play. If it's
working for you perhaps I have other problems. Can you confirm if it is
working for you?

Thanks,
Nick

Works fine for me but I forgot to say I have "Window media (Built-in)" disabled in Server Settings/Filetypes. It doesn't work if this box is checked.

Thanks. I've disabled that as well but the stream changes to 'stopped'
almost immediately. At least I know it is something wrong with my server.

Can anyone offer any debugging help? Is there anyway to get a log file
that details what is causing this URL to fail to play?

You are using Fedora - to play WMA with "built in disabled" on Linux you need something like Mplayer installed. What have you installed it ?

I've just installed mplayer and restarted slimserver. Do I need to
configure anything in Slimserver to associate mplayer with Windows media
files?

Once you have Mplayer installed & working - if you have a sound card on your PC then the following will play your station. If it doesn't work then either the version of Mplayer is too old or incompatible sound subsystem.

mplayer -cache 128 mms://stream00.prostream.co.uk/dee1063

The easiest way to get WMA is to install AlienBBC.
Although it's main purpose is support of RealAudio, it also sets up WMA on Linux using Mplayer.

Linux Installation notes:

AlienBBC Download for Linux & SS 6.3

Thank you for your help. It's all now working. I'll know if it was worth
it tomorrow morning when my wife can finally listen to a local radio
station.

Perhaps this will persuade her for the need for another couple of
Sqeezeboxes!
