As title really. How do I give SlimServer a designated IP address (in non-technical speak!)? My router is setup to get dynamic IP address from my ISP, but is there a way to say that the SlimServer is always 192.168.0.100 (for example) on my network?

This has come about because I have recently bought a Nokia 770 which I want to use as a Network Music Player (which itself isn't being very successful due to the poor signal strength and the connection dropping), but it would be much better if I could have a fixed bookmark to connect to SlimServer from the Nokia.

I am using a Netgear DG834G wireless router.

Thanks in advance.

That depends on what your slimserver is.. I assume you are running windows. The easiest way is to simply set a static IP in windows.

I googled for "windows set static IP" and found this:

Even easier might be to used a reserved IP address for your system. This will maintain the same IP address for your slimserver PC, and you don't have to worry about setting up other IP info such as DNS, etc. on your PC.

See Reserved Ip Addresses on page 7-6 of your manual, online at
