View Full Version : Clearing the DB

Since I am about to point my SS to an entirely new location for music,
all re-ripped, should I be clearing the DB before I do this? I have made
so many changes, moves and other things and would prefer to start with a
clean DB. Is there a way to do this without a fresh install? I am
running 6.5b1

Where is this setting? Not on my server...
I just want to clean out the library. I want to rescan it at a later point.

That's currently no option.

There is always the possibility to point the SS to an empty folder, and then do a full rescan. That would produce an empty library.

I often fire up MySQL Administrator and drop all the tables manually when
slimserver's not looking.. You know where you are then.. :-)

Actually, I just tested this and it works quite well. Be sure to point both the music and playlists folders at this empty folder.

The only thing left in the database after such a scan is a single record - the 'Various Artist' (I suppose it must be created automatically), but the artist count will be 0.
