View Full Version : 5.0 upgrade problem: can't access web server!

For me, I wasn't doing anything speciail. I simply brought up the web interface
via a web browser on either the server or another system and started to browse
artists or albums. Generally just clicking around the interface for a few
minutes would lead to the issue. Perhaps it's more related to the upgrade
itself. I noticed that when I downgraded to 4.2.6, I had to restart the entire
server to get the problem to go away (even after installing 4.2.6 over 5.0.0).
Also, I have security enabled.

I've made a fix for the CPU hogging bug and have updated todays latest
build:

http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/latest

Anybody having problems with the CPU bug, please update and let me know
if it's more reliable.

Dean,
I am getting the same issues. It seems to be ok if the players have nothing for
a playlist. As soon as it tries to load a playlist of some size, then it locks
up at 97% cpu usage and will not come back until server is restarted. In my
case, Mandrake Linux 9.1, Mozilla Firebird and IE6, Slimserver updated cvs.
Fishbone, Standard Skin, and Fishbone skin from 5.0.0.

Your fix did the trick for me. Fishbone is working fine in the latest
build.

Hey Dean,

I upgraded from 4.2.3 to 5.0.0 and also hit this dead browser issue. I'm using
the .tar.gz version of the archive on on Linux 2.2.25 (Perl 5.6.0) via a
Windows Mozilla 1.5 browser. After reading this thread, I upgraded to
SlimServer_v2003-11-28 and things seem to be ok now.

Please, REMOVE the 5.0.0 version from the SlimDevices download page. I
consider that version toxic.

Ps. You might want to add in the ChangeLog that the Time::Res module is now
required to have things running properly (there was another thread about this
issue under the "[slim] Can't get upgrade to start." subject)
