Hello,

i've installed MusicIP and startet the API-Service for Slimserver.
After that I activated the MusicMagic Plugin and activated the use of musicmagic. Then the slimserver started a rescan. So far so good. But during the rescan the api-service stops after a minute or so and the slimserver is not answering anymore. Turning on the MM API service manually ,the slimserver continues the rescan without the need of restart the slimserver. But after a moment the API Service stops again and again and again.

Can you help?

so, I've done it on my own:

1. Install the service of MusicIP in Dos Box. Go to the directory of MusicIP and type "MusicmagicServer install"

2. Add the following value to your Registry using regedit:

Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\slimsvc\
Value Name: DependOnService
Value Type: REG_MULTI_SZ
Value Data: MusicIP Server

3. Reboot

Everytime you boot the slimserver will start the musicip service automatically.

alter_sack, if I'd just read your message before I spent hours trying to get MusicIP to run as a service on my own...I didn't realize the new version comes with such an easy way to do it!

Thanks for the post.

alter_sack, this is very useful !!!

To expand slightly on your shorthand directions,
1. Install the service of MusicIP in Dos Box.
Open a Command Prompt and change directory to "C:\Program Files\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer" and type "MusicmagicServer install"

2. Add the following value to your Registry using regedit (Edit, New, Multi-String Value):

Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\slimsvc\
Value Name: DependOnService
Value Type: REG_MULTI_SZ
Value Data: MusicIP Server

3. Reboot

When you look in Services, you will see that the SlimServer service now depends on MusicIP server.

I managed to get the MusicIP Service running with the correct dependency. Everything start fine. I see the MM in slimserver but I always get a very quick result of an "empty" playlist. My library is fully validated and I have rescanned several times.

The one oddity I have found is that if I open http://localhost:10002/ I get a MusicMagic Server configuration page. It doesn't look like an API. This is different than the page I receive if I start the API service manually from MusicIP. That page allows you to enter a song and it returns a playlist.

I installed MusicMagicServer.exe but did nothing with MusicMagicService.exe.

Thanks for any insights!

perhaps this is something you could ask on the predixis forums
since this is what they are there for.

try http://localhost:10002/api

ok, that worked. It appears like the API is working fine. But still Slimserver returns empty results.

tried that. They say it is a slimserver issue. And I would have to agree since their API is working and returning results when called manually.

no results is a slimserver issue...but you were talking about using
one EXE vs another. That has NOTHING to do with slimserver.

What version of the server are you using?
Have you tried looking at the logs with d_musicmagic?

I have had similar problems when downgrading from the Nightly releases
to 6.3. I got it working by wiping out everything and starting over in
my configuration of slimserver. I am listening to a great IP mix now!

Hello ! I did as above. http://localhost:10002/api/mix displays a mix. "When you look in Services," is this in the MusicIP Mixer ?

MusicMagic is enabled in SlimServer setting.

Pls advise what to do next to see the mix in the Squeezebox.

Thanks.

edit
------------------
From MusicIP Mixer 1.6, "Send to SlimServer" does not work with error.
SlimServer Version: 6.3.0 - 8148.

Squeezebox can command to generate MusicIP Mixes.

Any information on this available ?
