OK let me ask another way, on what op system enabled NASs will the slim server run?

Can someone give me some examples pls?

Just trying to find a good one, now I know it runs on Qnap TS-101 but on what else? Thanks

See my post (and those following) in this thread:

You may also want to check out the wiki which deals with this at a high level:

Somebody else is already trying to load slimserver
http://www.openfsg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1155

but it seems that it is not just install an RPM.

Fantastic, thanks for your response, I bought a link station a few weeks ago and also got squeezbox, and been wondering for a few days if i could run it from the linkstation but the basic install wouldnt do it. Great will give it a go!

I was considering buying the freecom if that could run it, but it seems my linkstation can as well.

I'd advise the person to look for linux / C forums for the compiler.

I have made a tar file for 6.3.1 and an optware ipkg for 6.5.1.

The 6.5.1 install is not quite complete and a few hand steps are required but a few users have installed it. Web interface is a bit slow and one user who tried to build a largish database has mysql crashes - these were discussed on the FSG forum.
