View Full Version : Problem with CLI when listening to Radio

I use the CLI as part of my NowPlayingService utility (which updates the "I'm listening to" information in MSN with what I'm playing on my SB3).

I issue the commands

artist ?
title ?
album ?

and I get correct information back.

HOWEVER....

When I'm listening to ShoutCast radio (at the moment it's 4U Radios - All Classic Rock) the information is incorrect, it's more like the stream ifnormation that's displayed in the Slim browser, e.g.

(#1 - 86/350) 4U Radios - 123 All Classic Rock - #1 Classic Rock Station for 70s and 80s

But my question (eventually): on the actual Slim Browser, it DOES display the correct title. At the moment it shows "Heart - Alone".

This image represents my problem:

I need to get the "Heart - Alone" bit from the CLI, but "artist ?" returns "0" and "title ?" returns:

title (%231%20-%2086%2F350)%204U%20Radios%20-%20123%20All%20Classic%20Rock%20-%2
0%231%20Classic%20Rock%20Station%20for%2070s%20and %2080s

I need to do this via CLI commands, not via the status.xml page.

Help! (please).

Many thanks,

Jim

You don't mention the slimserver version, but I guess it's something
before 6.5. The radio information support in the CLI has been improved
with 6.5.

In SlimRemote I'm using a "00:11:22:33:44:55 status - 1 tags:gabehldiqtyr"
call and do parse the result for the now playing information. For normal
songs I'm then using the album and title tag, and for radio stations
current_title and title.

How embarrassing! Yes, the vital bit!

I'm using 6.2.2 on Ubuntu, running over MySql 4.1. I had my fingers badly burned with 6.2.1, but 6.2.2 seems stable (only three restarts since release), so I'm not brave enough to use alpha/beta slim on my "main" server.

Knowing that it's been improved in 6.5 though, I'll probably just sit tight until that is released.

Many thanks,

Jim
