My slimserver 6.2.2 resently stoped working as an XP service recently after a reboot. I now get the following Event App error:

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( Application ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Can't call method "PushSelf" on an undefined value at /PerlApp/Slim/Utils/Misc.pm line 132.

The really old thing is that if I try to run the slim.exec file in the server installation folder, in a cmd shell, the server runs. But does not run for a "net start slimserver" or the Service console

Any ideas on what i can do to resolve the problem

Anthony

Almost a month and no reponse... did you ever get this sorted? I recently reformatted and can't get 6.2.2 to start either. Curious as to what you did to get yours going?

After 4 reboots the problem went away, so I guess it was not the slimserver that was having issues, however, the problem started about the time I has having problems with my DNS server and and stopped after my DNS server was fixed. I cannot say if these where related events.

Thanks for the update. I couldn't get it to start, no matter how many reboots. Then again, I have a fresh system that I just reformatted so it couldn't be anything that was left from an old uninstall or something.

At any rate, I was able to get the 6.3 maintenance release to work - I just don't know if it is officially supported.

*shrugs*
