Neither Dean nor I have been able to reproduce this problem yet... need
some help here folks.

I'm running the server at the office on Windows, and at home on Linux.
Dean does all his development and testing on OSX 10.3.
I'm also running the 5.0.0 server here on OSX 10.2.8 (g4 tower).

On none of these systems can I get the slow web interface bug to
happen. Tried with no clients connected, with one slimp3, two slimp3s,
a squeezebox, two slimp3s and a squeezebox... no dice.

If someone can reproduce this reliably and would like to help out,
please contact me or dean. If you're willing to let one of us log in
remotely to troubleshoot on your machine, that would be immensely
helpful.

I can give you Timbuktu (or you physical access if you want, I am
near the San Jose Airport) to a 10.3.1 system that demonstrates the
Fishbone problem. I had the "no webpage at all" problem under 10.2.8
till I upgraded to 10.3.1. I think that 10.3 installs a new version
of perl. -Chuck-

I was able to reproduce the problem, thanks to Jonathan Schwartz
opening up his server for some testing.

I've posted a pre-release build here:

http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/SlimServer_v2003-11-20/

Please download the appropriate version for your platform and post your
experiences.

I've had success with the v2003-11-20 version. No player or server
issues that I can see.

Additionally, I was able to update the firmware with the 20003-11-20
updater, the 5.0 version updater quit upon opening. One last comment -
version 5.0 wouldn't play at all on my slimp3 player with 2.0b2
firmware. The player would display the song title, but not start
playing. It wouldn't even communicate with the remote. In the player
settings web page, the correct IP address of the player was shown, but
the mac address was all zeros.

Hope this helps, and thanks for the help.

Wow!

Not only did it fix the current 5.0 problem, it makes the web
interface...to quote a previous poster... quite snappy under OS X.

Up to this point, the web interface was _extremely_ pokey .

Thanks Dean. You can enter my server back end any time.

Well, umm....never mind that last offer. But thanks all the same. ;-)
