I'm a new user and boy am I mad! When I tried to play some MP3s today
the playback stopped and started all through the songs - i.e. it would
stop for 10-20 secs and then resume from where it stopped. After 2
songs it stopped completely and "stopped" was displayed on the Slimp3.
This was running 4.6.2. I've since installed v5 - and it won't even
run! But that is the subject of another post. PC is P4 1.9G XP SP 1.

Sounds like network trouble, assuming you've got enough RAM. I had it
intermittently do that for a long time, eventually tracked it down to a
bad port on a new NetGear switch. Replaced the switch with one of the
old blue-metal-box types and the problem went away.

Perfmon, watch memory utilization, look out for swapping. Then try a
crossover Ethernet cable between the server and the Slimp3.
