View Full Version : DIsabling scan (rescan) at startup

2006-04-20, 19:38
I recently sarted loading the nightlies again to see how things are going. I've noticed that SlimServer now automatically rescans my library every time the machine is re-started. Is this behavior intentional?

I'm running SlimServer on our household PC and I would like to disable the automatic re-scan. I can't find any menu item to adjust this setting. As you can imagine it really hampers the PC performance at startup.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would like to turn off the scan at startup too. I use the rescan plugin to do a scan every night at 3am, so don't need a scan when it starts up.

Like you say, during windows startup, there is quite a lot of disk thrashing as several processes are accessing the filesystem.

I am also experiencing a rescan upon startup after installing the April 21 nightly of version 6.2.2.

Is this a bug or by design?

if by design, then please add a cancel option - as I think lots of people will not want this. I know when I have added stuff and re-scan then.

It appears to be a bug and has been reported here http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3306.

I was away this weekend and am just checking things. I checked the bug log and it is marked as fixed on 4/21. I'm going to download the latest build and give it a whirl.

Will try it myself. I was fiddling with the server on the weekend and that invloved turning it on/off often. The rescan was really slowing things down!
