Hi,

I'm new to the Squeezebox scene, and I am trying the softsqueeze application to get a feel for whether hardware product will meet my needs.

I also have been playing with my IPAQ PDA (802.11b) and can access the slimserver web page, and queue songs and play them via softsqueeze, although the page is very crowded.

I have two questions for those who are old hands at this.

1. If I use the PDA can I change or add to the playlist of any hardware device connected to the network, or I am limited to having the PDA bound to the one device.

2. Is anyone working on a trimmed down version of the web interface (perhaps on a different port) for PDA's, so we don't have to purchase a third party product.

yup. if the server finds multiple players, you'll see a pulldown list
to choose the player. You can also specify the player in the URL:
http://server:9000/index.html?player=<mac address>

Server settings->interface.
choose Handheld skin, or Nokia770

also can be done via url:
http://server:9000/handheld/
http://server:9000/nokia770/

also search the forum for "slimremote" which is a small application
designed to control slimserver from several models pf PDA.

I don't know if it still works with the latest versions of slimserver, but you might also try taking a look at Telcanto (http://www.slimdevices.com/dev_telcanto.html).

Always heard good things about Telcanto, but it seems like slimremote now provides much of that functionality for free.
