Network Attached Storage and Squeezebox

Hello.

I am looking to use a Squeezebox in conjunction with a SnapServer.

My question is:
Do I have to have a PC on running the server software when I want to use
my Squeezebox - because ideally I would only want the SnapServer and
Squeeze box on.

Is this possible?

I don't know recent SnapServers, but we're using one aged 2-3 years. The
system installed on that machine is completely closed, only accessible
using a web interface. Therefore it's impossible to add any software
whatsoever.

Which means: yes, you'll need another box running the SliMP3 server
software.
