View Full Version : Recalling previous search

I'm a SliMP3 user from the early days, and have yet to figure this one out....I'd like be to able to recall the previous search *after* listening to the current songs. It goes like this...

When I initially search for music, I get the opportunity to choose from all the artists/albums/songs found at that time. Fine. I pick one. It starts playing. If I change my mind, I can LEFT ARROW and choose another from the found list. It plays.

However, once the selection has been played and the player stops, the original FOUND LIST is gone. Pressing the LEFT ARROW produces only "NOW PLAYING". I would need to re-enter my search from the beginning.

Note: I know how to use PLAY ALL, to avoid needing to repeat the search, but that forces hearing all songs, which is not desired.

So...exactly when does the player/server decide that I no longer need the previous search results, and how do I convince it to retain them?

Thanks

Jonathan

Use another screensaver, like the "Now playing (Jump back on wake)" or my
MusicInfoSCR with the jump back option turned on. This should take you
back from where the screensaver kicked in.

Tried that. Didn't make a difference.

I did a couple of more trials. Somewhere between the time I start the song and when the songs ends, Slimp3 forgets the previous search. I don;t have to wait for the end and for the screensaver to kick in.

I just want to be able to, say... play the next album after listening to the first album following a search....without having to repeat the search already performed. Sort of like hitting the back button in google to reach the original search results page.

Make sense?

Hmm... I did try, too. And it worked perfectly as expected:

- search
- from the result hit "play" on some song/artist/album
- when I've had enough of that s/a/a hit "left"
- select next search result

Very important: do _not_ hit "Now Playing". This will leave the search
results and not bring them back. But the "jump back on wake" should really
bring you back from where it left. Imagine it like a screensaver (isn't
this what it's called even in slimserver? :-)) laying its image over your
current screen. Once you wake it up, that layer's gone and you're back at
work. I use it that way all the time.
