Hi all. I've just got a Squeezebox 3 and have some files encoded using 128Kbps WMA. These will not fast forward or rewind using the remote control. Having searched the groups it would appear that this should work (as they aren't lossles format) in SlimServer 6.2.1. Can anyone shed any light on this ?

You might want to try 6.2.2 from http://www.slimdevices.com/dev_nightly.html

Ceejay - thanks I literally just did that before I got your reply! Upgraded SlimServer to 6.2.2 and updated firmware on Squeezebox. Still no joy though - FF and REW not scanning through a track.

The you may need to have a look at the conversions that are specified in your slimserver settings - perhaps the slimserver thinks it has to transcode WMA to something else, which would have the effect of preventing FFWD/REW. See Server Settings / Filetypes - what do you have for WMA files?

I have four entries for the "Windows Media" filetype. 3 of them are checked: FLAC, MP3 and Windows Media(built-in). Should I remove all except the last one ?

Yes, that would be a good place to start...

It IS one option, but I'd take a look at the log with d_source
enabled (server settings->debugging), personally. A default install
should automatically pick the right output. In this case, players
that are able to play WMA directly will do so.

btw, there is one report of wma scanning problems in this bug report:

OK - looks like an o/s issue. I'll keep an eye on the bug report. Thanks for all the help guys.

The WMA bug appears to be fixed (http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=571) but how do I implement it?

Thanks

FF/REW is not supported for WMA at the moment.

OK, shame. Thanks for the quick update.
