Hi,

After looking into the forum and manual I couldn't find a way to determine which files to backup that contain the favourites, playlists, SB settings etc.
Since I want to use an old XP laptop as server iso my XP PC. After installing the slimserver 6.2 I then can overwrite certain files.

Perhaps someone can help me out.

thanks,
Peter

Favorites are stored in the preferences file:

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?SlimServerPreferencesFile

Playlists are stored in the folder you defined for storing playlists :-)
See "Server settings" in the web interface.

Hello,
the wiki says:

The SlimServer Preferences file is where MOST of your settings are stored.

What "most" means ? Is there other files that I need to backup ?

I'm asking because I'm now running slimserver using slimCD on an USB pendrive (see http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24508) and files have to be saved each time I shutdown the computer.

SlimCD should already take care about it if you define the backup medium.
Just right click the SlimCD desktop, then go to System - Backup/Restore.
Define the partition on which you'd like to store the backup (typically
sda1 or sda2 for a usb stick). Now when you shut down SlimCD using the
system/shutdown menu, it will backup your configuration to that partition,
and restore it at boot time.

I did prepare this, because SlimCD has to take care about the installed
slimserver, too. Once you've updated slimserver, your configuration file
_might_ be incompatible with the slimserver version included with the CD.
Using the backup SlimCD will restore your latest installed slimserver.

hello

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?SlimServerPreferencesFile
return "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /index.cgi on this server."

wiki : search "favourites" -> 0

What a pain to retrieve information to backup favourites and essential files !!!!
