View Full Version : Problem with ID3 tags on 6.5b1

Hi -

I'm running 6.5b1 (via new debian packages) on a Linux Kubuntu box. Everything installed fine except that slimserver is not correctly parsing the ID3 tags on about half of my mp3 files. I've got about 3000 tracks under "No Artist/No Album".

This problem didn't exist under previous versions of slimserver (including 6.2.1) and the few sample tracks I looked at were all readable (ID3s) by my other MP3 players.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Are your tags ID3v1 or ID3v2?

I'm not sure how to tell.

I would guess ID3v1 though. I primarily use Grip for ripping and it looks like ID3v2 is an extra option that is off by default. Many of these tracks were ripped years ago, and I doubt I would have enable ID3v2 since I don't really know what the differences are.

Could you send me one of the files that has trouble? dan | at | slimdevices.com

I think I know what's going on here. I want to verify it with a test file,
then I'll put a fix in the next nightly.

You'll just need to apt-get update; apt-get install slimserver tomorrow.

Thanks.

I just checked in a fix for this. It will be in tonight's build.

Or, if you wish to fix it right now, edit: /usr/share/slimserver/lib/MP3/Info.pm

And change line 517:

- if (!$v1 && !$v2 && !$ape) {
+ if (!$v1 || !$v2 || !$ape) {

Then restart the server and wipe & rescan.

That seems to have done the trick.

Thanks for the help!

Cool! I wasn't aware of this. Can you post the relevant sources.list
entries? Thanks.
