View Full Version : Remaining Time display is bass-ackwards

With 'Now Playing Information' set to 'Remaining Time' wouldn't it make more sense for the progress bar in to _decrease_ in size? That is, to start full-sized to the left and then decrease in size to the right, essentially just inverting the pixels in the bar. As it is now, the bar is displayed exactly the same whether displaying elapsed or remaining time.

it already does. It starts dark, and becomes light.

It fills, it doesn't empty.

It does on mine. The dark gets emptied right out every time. ;-)

Seriously, though, all the progress bars I've seen progress from left
to right just like the one on the Squeezebox.

The direction is correct, just not the polarity.

I feel an enhancement request... oh hell, make it a bug report, coming on. It's just plain wrong, I tell you. Honestly, I don't know how I've been able to cope with it for as long as I have.

Well, Jim, you could look at it this way: The progress bar taken by itself, indicates how much of the song has played. Now, whether the digits to the right are indicating time remaining or time played, the song still starts, it plays for a while and then it ends, and that's what the progress bar reflects.

(I can't believe I've chimed in on this ...)

I thought the whole thing was a joke too. Oops. For the record, I
like it this way.

You think I'd kid around about something like this? The glass shouldn't be depicted as half full when it is actually half empty.

Well, yeah, actually. To each one's own, I guess. Me, I hope they
spend time fixing bugs that are other at best subjectively cosmetic.

Still, that's what the bug reporting and voting system is for, so if
that's what people want, then so be it.

Make mine a Balvenie, as long as you're filling glasses.
