View Full Version : Latest nightly has destroyed my SlimServer - how can I recover?

Hello,
In an attempt to test the patch for bug 2018 I have installed the latest Windows nightly: downloads/nightly/SlimServer_v2006-02-22/SlimServer_v2006-02-22.ZIP

Once installed the firmware updated to vs. 35 with no discernable problems. However, once Slimserver had stopped rescanning my files I browsed my music (via the web interface) but was only returned with this type of message:

Browse Years
ARRAY(0x4575fc8)
884 albums with 10040 songs by 364 artists

and no listing of music.

If I select Server Settings or Player Settings I receive:
404 Not Found: setup.html
Try adding page=SERVER_SETTINGS.

I have tried installing the latest nightly Windows executable as well but still get the same results.
I assume that I might have to uninstall SlimServer and reinstall the nightly from scratch (unless it's the nightly that's at fault of course!) but I really don't want to lose my settings and have to set it all back up again from scratch.

Can someone tell me what files to save and copy back over the new installation to retain my settings?

Thanks for any help.

MC

Hmm... this is surprising. Slimserver is working as it OK if using the remote. It's just the web interface that's screwed.
What can I do to recover and retain my settings?

Take a copy of the .pref files and reinstall a stable version. You may have to do a full rescan, or you may not.

Have you changed from 6.5 to 6.2.2? The symptoms you describe really
shouldn't be coming from 6.2.2 use. There haven't been any changes to
the web server or html parts of 6.2.2 for 2 weeks. If you have used
6.5, then you are best to uninstall completely, then reinstall. The
changes in 6.5 can cause several caching problems, and does change the
way the settings are accessed and the way the breadcrumb list is
displayed at the top (often shown as ARRAYXXXX when something goes
wrong)

As suggested previously, best to backup your prefs (better yet,
restore an older backup after you re-install)

I have only updated my 6.2.2 version to the latest 6.2.2 nightly.
I'll find the .prefs file, copy it, uninstall SlimServer and try reinstalling the same nightly again (as I really want the latest patch that appears to cure the remote menu list jumt bug).

Thanks.

Not correct. I have managed to install the 6.5 version I think. Sorry to waste your time.

no problem. at least it is explained. you'll be able to uninstall and
reinstall and all should be well. The prefs should be ok, but please
make sure to do a backup just in case.
