Hi All,

I'm considering getting a squeezebox, and already have all my CDs ripped as flac files, and already have a mysql db as an index to them all, and also already have a web front end to select what I want to play.

my question is this: is it possible to use slimserver without its database? it would be quite trivial for me to tweak my existing web front end to load tracks onto squeezeboxes using the CLI on tcp/9090 I guess, provided I can use the "playlist insert" type commands to add a file that hasn't been indexed by slimserver.

should this work okay?

many thanks
Matt

No. If you want to be able to select your music from the player's
interface, then you'll have to use the slimserver.
