Just noticed that MattyBain is on my friends list. I added him through the neighbours thing as I liked his this weeks top selection :-D didn't realise why the name seamed familiar. Although clearly there are areas where I have to scratch my head "Avril Lavigne" :-P

May I ask you what disk by Manu Katché you have? I've been looking for one
he was talking about a while back, when he was playing with Dominic Miller
and Pino Palladino at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Never seen anything of
it.

The Katché Record is "Neighbourhood", released on ECM in 2005:

Highly recommended, a very 'stylish' jazz record.

I have a last.fm related question.

You will notice that my Top Artist Overall is "Torrents". This is not
some strange band you've not heard of but stems from when I used to play
music directly from Bittorrent downloads. If the files don't contain
tags, slimserver guess at the artists and, as the torrents were in the
directory structure "/some/path/Torrents/Artist - Album/" it guessed
that the Artist name was "Torrent".

Does anyone know if I can delete my history and start again now that
I've sorted all my tags out?

It's not quite as it seems although the music is playing most days all
day and, fortunately, SWMBO and I like the same music.

SlimServer is running from a spare laptop and I leave it and
synchronised Squeeboxes on 24x7 (almost invariably random mix). We turn
on speakers when we want to listen which, as I work from home a lot, is
most of the time. Today, for example, they've been on since about 07:00
and won't get turned off until around 19:00 this evening.

I love Last.FM but I'm not sure my wallet is going to stand much more
new music it finds me!

I used to turn off the submitter when I wasn't using the SB for my own music, but found out later that when you turn it back on again it submitted all the tracks that had been played whilst it was off! (And no I wasn't selecting the submit all tracks function that's available)

Unless the plug-in has been changed it may still be doing this.

My music listening taste goes back and forth from Genre to Genre... I can be a listening to Fado for a whole week and then I won't listen to Fado for months. Latin Jazz and Cuban Son are frequently in the mix... I like dancing to the stuff... so there is no going away from it... Is in my blood.

Any lastfm users who have found that using a squeezebox has revived an
interest in buying and listening to music may be interested in a couple of
other sites. http://www.exitahead.co.uk/ will search eBay for the artists
in your lastfm profile, which is handy for picking up older works by
artists you have recently discovered. http://www.soundamus.net/ does the
same for new releases on Amazon.

I just registered my new last.fm user account in SqueezeNetwork. I selected the Squeeze Player and last.fm username. However, nothing shows up on my last.fm profile page as I'm listening to music.

http://www.last.fm/user/mkanet/

I dont have the last.FM software installed on my machine. I just want to send what I listen to on SC 7.01 on my last.fm profile page. Does it take a day for it to start working?

Are you using Squeezenetwork as your source to play music or Squeezecenter 7.01 (i.e. your local library)?

For Squeezenetwork, you will need to set up Squeezenetwork for scrobbling.

Log into http://www.squeezenetwork.com
Accounts/Last.fm
Select: Submit (scrobble) all tracks played to Last.fm? Yes, report tracks played to Last.fm.

AFAIK, not every radio track played via SN will scrobble. I think it depends on the particular station and format.

For Squeezecenter scrobbling, you need to configure the Last.fm Audioscrobbler plugin (go to Player Settings, Last.fm Audioscrobbler).

A bit late on a reply, thanks for the 2 sites. Both seem useful and are a pretty cool idea.

OMG, you seem to have the most similar taste as me in music. All you top artists are my favourites (although Last.FM does not seem to really reflect my taste at all yet).

Also added to my signature (see below).

Could someone please tell me how one can edit their signature so that the last.fm url is hidden, in other words, so that one only sees the words "Last.FM", which would then be the clickable link. Or do I need to be a member of some secret society? BTW, if it helps, I still have my magic decoder ring that I got by sending in those 10,000 cereal box tops which took me 12 years to collect. Thanks

Try [ url=http://www.last.fm/user/jazzfann/]Last.fm[ /url] but remove the spaces after the brackets.

Thanks, Siduhe, worked like a charm. Now how do I get my signature permissions changed so that HTML is allowed and I can put "Last.FM" into some funky font and groovy color? As a matter of fact, how do I get HTML allowed for forum posts?

Quick Question.

Can you only listen to LastFM on your SB via SqueezeNetwork? Couldnt find an option to select LastFM via SqueezeCenter.

Thanks.

You'll need to install 7.1

Oh. Ok. Thanks for the response. Since I am one who likes to wait for the "official" release, I can wait until then.

thanks again.

There's a .0. in between the 7 and the 1 - not quite the same ;-)

LOL! You are TOO QUICK! Yes, I realized that when I looked closer at my install. I deleted my post but you apparently already responded.

Thanks anyway.

I don't read the forums, but the mailing list. Once you've hit the Send
