Good idea, we would just have to make sure that if we did any modifications
to the module that we bump the version number that we have (and send any
changes to the module maintainer so that they hopefully get included in the
next CPAN rev).

We do have another problem, which is that binary modules (notably
Time::HiRes) might have the right version number, but are compiled for
the wrong version of Perl, where the binary interfaces are
incompatible.

Right - which should be happening anyways. Divergent code for no good reason is dangerous.
