I'm really enjoying Last.FM, but find it frustrating that any time I
want to change channels, skip a song or love a song I have to go back to
the main menu and select Internet Radio -> Last.FM again. It would make
more sense to keep those capabilities right under artist/song info in
the menu.

Am I missing something in the setup that would streamline this process?

Try setting the secreen saver to "Now Playing (Jump Back on wake)". The if you have it normally displaying the LastFM plugin menu, the screensave will cut in to give you Now Playing, but it will Jump Back when you press, say, the up key...

Some people have changed their remote map to set some of the keys to access the skip/love/ban commands directly from wherever you are. Have a look at the old LastFM threads in the plugins forum, I am not entirely sure how you do it!

I don't think a plugin can add links in the now playing menu.
If anyone can explain how to, I'll be happy to add them...

Insert the following into C:\program files\slimserver\server\ir\custom.map under the [common] section

# LastFM skp/love/ban
arrow_right.hold = lastfm_skip
arrow_up.hold = lastfm_love
arrow_down.hold = lastfm_ban

This will allow your remote to do the following lastfm commands:
press and hold right arrow will issue a skip current song
press and hold up arrow will issue a love current song
press and hold down arrow will issue a ban current song

However, I still run into a problem where sometimes (when the screensaver has not engaged yet), even though I press and hold the up/down or right button, it will still first issue a single up/down or right command, then the press and hold command.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to make sure that the single up/down/right command does not get issued first?

Thanks! I shall add these notes to my web page.

Don't you have to do

arrow_right = dead
arrow_right.single = <whatever arrow_right was before>
arrow_right.hold = lastfm_skip

To remove the initial command?

I tried that and if I remember correctly, it hung up after the first single and didn't go to the hold.

See if it works for you and let me know.

This sounds great but where can I download a custom.map? IR folder only contains default,jvc_dvd, and Slim_devices_Remote.

I tried just copying and editing default.map but I dont know what to edit it with--note pad looks like a mess with some square boxes at the end of functions and I dont want to mess it up ;)

Also, how do I stream my music so other people in the slimscrobbler lastfm group can enjoy and rate it?
Thanks

Wordpad will edit this (and all other SlimServer files) correctly.
