Is there anyplace I can get a detailed list of the differences between Squeezebox 2 and 3? I have a 2 and want to know what (other than optical out) I don't have on my SB2.
Since all new PR from Slim is about the SB3, I often don't know if a feature is hardware or software (i.e. upgradable) based.

tks

Thanks! Just what I needed.
Looks like I'll be happy with my SB2 for a while. Reception is good now that I've installed a Pre-N wireless router, and I actually like the original black box better than the new one. (No offense.)

Should give you an idea.

You certainly have an optical out on your SB2! Well, if you don't then you
got bamboozled by someone. I hope that isn't the case.

The SB2 has an optical out...

The new box looks better in person, though I like the old box quite a lot
too. I was one of the people complaining how ugly the new one is, but now
that it's on the mantelpiece with no other equipment nearby, it looks
pretty good (and gets noticed more by the neighbors). The old box on the
other hand is far better for my crowded desktop, where the taller SB3
would be fairly likely to get knocked over regularly.

Each has its own place, depending on the location. Pun intended, sadly.

The SB3's display is a very pale cyan, significantly whiter than the SB2's display, which has a distinct green color to it.

The SB2's display seems a bit brighter than the SB3's though. I think this might just be a matter of the SB3 having a darker filter in front of the display, though.

I was a little skpetical of the new design as well, but once I got one I was very happy with it. My SB3 lives on my nightstand and looks great. I slightly modified Felix Mueller's "Auto Display" plugin to turn the display brightness down to 1 instead of 0 at midnight and back up to full at 06:30. (When are we getting a CdS cell?) Paired up with an AudioSource One and some nice JBL speakers, it's the world's best clock radio (although I almost never need alarm functionality, but it's nice to know it's there).

The display module is exactly the same; the SB3 just has a more
purplish filter in front of it.

That makes sense, as a purple-ish filter would explain both the shift toward white and the drop in brightness (since it would subtract some of the green).
