View Full Version : How do I download 6.2.2 for firmware 29?

I just purchased an SB3. I have no problem connecting wired - but am not having any luck with wireless. I've read a number of posts that say a number of wireless connectivity issues have been fixed in firmware version 29 that's a part of SlimServer v 6.2.2. (I'm running 6.2.1 with firmware v28)

Where can I download this updated software/firmware?

If you have problems check the beta forums.

....what kind of router are you using?

Check here:

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?RouterStatus

but note most of these findings haven't been
checked with firmware 29 yet.

Build 6.2.2 and firmware 29 fixed my problem! I can now connect wirelessly. Unlike build 28, the SB3 obtained an IP address automatically and found my Slim Server immediately.

I'm using an SMC7004AWBR wireless router. At the moment, encryption is turned off - I'll play around with that later today. I also have an SMC barricade G (SMC2804WBRP-G) that I will try to work with. Is there a place (other than this thread) where I should post my testing results?

This thread is fine, although you should also put
your conclusions in the wiki I linked to in order
to help others.

I tried the SMC2804WBRP-G with firmware 29 and an
SB2 - no joy. It sees the SSID, can't connect.
However I didn't reset to defaults on the SB2, so
it was perhaps not a good test. I'd be interested
to see what results you get. The SMC's wireless
strength blows the Linksys WRT54G out of the
water, it has a better firewall and its print
server is nice too.

Like you, I cannot get the SMC2804WBRP-G to work with the SB3 in wireless mode. It sees the SSID and can't connect.

It takes my laptop longer to connect to the SMC2804 than the SMC7004. I wonder if there's a way to increase the timeout duration past 20 seconds on the SB3 - maybe then it would connect...?
