View Full Version : a new squeezebox remote with an old slimp3?

Hi all,
I'm planning to get a new squeezebox to replace my old slimp3, but at
the same time I was thinking of getting a new remote control for the old
slimp3 - it still has the original Sony control, which is always a bit
confusing for guests etc.
What I want to know is - does a new squeezebox remote control still work
with a slimp3? I know there *was* a slim-specific remote control for
the slimp3, but is it the same as the shiny new black-and-white controls?

Thanks.
(Side note - I'm in Australia, and after looking at the local resellers,
I'm struggling to work out why I would bother with them. Total US cost
for a squeezebox + remote + shipping is around us$357. Add 10% GST on
delivery gives about us$390, which translates to about au$520.
If I go to a local reseller, it seems I'll pay au$475 for a squeezebox,
and au$50 for a remote, resulting in a total of $525 - five dollars
more! The only advantage I can see is local support - but I'm sure
they'd just ship it back to the US if anything went wrong anyway...)

It's the same thing, with an added button for "favorites" (sic)
