View Full Version : Mac OS X - Empty library every morning.

I'm running OS X 10.3.9 on an old G3/350 upgraded to a G4/800. I have my music library on an external Firewire drive. I tend to turn my machine off at night.

It seems that every morning my Slim library zeros out. I restart SlimServer, and it either does a rescan or finds the library. I'm guessing the external drive is not mounted when SlimServer starts and so it can't find anything. Does that make sense? Is there some debugging to turn on, and log entries to look for to confirm my guess?

Thanks.

I think I have this one figured out. I changed SlimServer from "start on reboot" to "start when I login". It seems that all the drives are connected by the time the login process starts.

Now another oddity. It appears that everytime my machine boots, SlimServer does a complete library scan. Is this a "feature"? It seems it could do a timestamp check on the iTunes Library and be done if there's no change.
