View Full Version : Fishbone Skin: Album link missing?

Fishbone looks very nice! But is there a way to make the Album in the Playlist clickable in the Fishbone skin?

An example: Using the file.ext format: Clicking on "04 - Found A Job.mp3" will play that song right away. Clicking on "Talking Heads" will list the Browse Artist/Artist page. Unfortunately the Album Title is not clickable.

15. 04 - Found A Job.mp3 by Talking Heads from Stop Making Sense [Special Edition]

I tried a couple other formatting options, but then the whole entry gets just one hyperlink to make it play right away. So now there is no easy way without too many clicks to create an MusicMagic Mix of that song.

What I actually would like is an extra 'mm' icon in the Playlist View that will create an instant MusicMagic Mix based on that song added to the current list of icons already there. Something like this:
Move Up | Move Down| Next | Remove from playlist | Song Info | mm

Or is there any other skin that will show this?

Thanks!

Hmmm, strange.

I am using SlimServer Version: 6.2.1 - 5194 - Windows 2000 - EN - cp1252

When I look at the html source the album looks like:
<i><a target="browser">Me And Mr. Johnson</a></i>

So no hyperlink.

The Artist for example looks like:
<a href="/browsedb.html?hierarchy=artist,album,track&amp;artist= 96&amp;level=1&amp;player=ae:0b:83:86:5d:e8" target="browser">Eric Clapton</a>

Which is hyperlinked correctly...

Just uninstalled 6.2.1, and installed 6.2.2. (SlimServer Version: 6.2.2 - 5743 - Windows 2000 - EN - cp1252). Still the same... Title and Artist are hyperlinked, Album is not (Using DISC-TRACKNUM. TITLE format):

<a href="status.html?p0=playlist&amp;p1=jump&amp;p2=2&amp;player=00%3A0 4%3A20%3A06%3A30%3A28" target="status">&nbsp;3.&nbsp;</a>
<b><a href="status.html?p0=playlist&amp;p1=jump&amp;p2=2&amp;player=00%3A0 4%3A20%3A06%3A30%3A28" target="status">11 - Walk On Water.mp3</a></b>

by
<a href="/browsedb.html?hierarchy=artist,album,track&amp;artist= 224&amp;level=1&amp;player=00:04:20:06:30:28" target="browser">David Byrne</a>

from
<i><a target="browser">Look Into The Eyeball</a>

Using that same format in the Default skin the Album is hyperlinked as:
<a href="browsedb.html?hierarchy=album,track&amp;level=1&amp;album= 188&amp;player=00%3A04%3A20%3A06%3A30%3A28" target="browser">Look Into The Eyeball</a>

No problem. Thanks!!

One more question... Unrelated... When I install a new version, do I have to uninstall the old one first, or can I just install over it so that I don't lose all my settings?

Thanks,

you can just install overtop. the prefs and third-party plugins are all
kept intact.

Cool. This has been a very minor pet peeve of mine, that if you change
the formatting to something other than just plain "TITLE", you don't get
the individual, clickable links anymore. But as it was such a minor
quibble with a skin that I'm otherwise extremely happy with, I never
bothered to bring it up.

that problem still remains. it is not feasible to parse out the
titleformats on the fly to create links. If your titleformat contains
ALBUM or ARTIST, then they will not be linked. All I've done here is
to fix what should have been an album link.

I see.

Maybe a future enhancement would be to have the internal server code
that generates the "title" text do so with live links rather than just
as static text. This would be useful anywhere in the web UI, I'd think.
Click an artist name, click a title, click a year -- whatever you ask
for in the "title" string, if it's a known keyword, make it live and
show what the user expects to see in the left-side panel. Then
individual skins like Fishbone wouldn't have to do that work themselves,
which is I think what's going on here, right? Fishbone sees that you've
asked for just plain TITLE as your "title" string and so adds on some
useful info like artist as live links. But if you've asked for anything
other than just plain TITLE, it just displays the static "title" text
and leaves it at that.

But like I said, it's a minor thing in an excellent skin. I'm not losing
sleep over it. (And I mostly do searches anyway, especially now that
searching is so fast.)

yes, it would. It is, however, a non-trivial change.

It is not a unique feature to the Fishbone skin. The server does the
work in flagging whether the current titleformat already contains
artist or album info somewhere, and the skins can then add the links or
not. The default skin also does this, and I think Exbrowse3 as well.
