Hi,

Thanks for any help with this software. It looks like a really nice solution and I will definitely buy a receiver if I can get this soft stuff working first.

1. Installed SS and LAME; SS reports LAME installed correctly.

2. Can browse and play music on server machine through Winamp.

3. On remote machine am able to connect to the server through Winamp using http://localhost:9000/stream.mp3. Winamp playlist shows Welcome to SlimServer (Welcome to SlimServer), but no audio. The clock runs in Winamp as though it is playing, but no sound is being transmitted. I got the same results on three machine on the network, so I assume it is a server setting or two.

4. I can run the server software from the remote machine, so I'm pretty confident it's not a firewall issue, but just to be sure, I turned off the firewall on both machines.

Thanks for any help,
DT

Did you add some songs to this player's playlist?

Hi Michael,

Thanks. That was it. This is really a great solution for distributed sound. I'll get a player soon for the main stereo.

Thanks again.

I have the same issue, but I do have songs on the playlist.

Winamp is showing a count and 'Welcome to Slimserver' but no music is coming out.

sometimes, when using winamp, I need to both start it at the slimserver ui and click start on the winamp window.

I don't know why, and I don't know why it's not always needed.

I got it working.

For some reason I had multiple (software) players showing up in the slimserver webpage. I told slimserver to forget them all, and restarted Winamp.

Then it worked.

Thanks.
