Does it look like this?

If it does, it's a universal standard. Stereo
mini jack.

Because they focus on their core competency.
Speakers are very, very hard to get right.

As for a recommendation, any computer speakers
would work with the Squeezebox's headphone output,
and they're all self-amplified. Finding ones that
sound good is not so easy and I have no particular
suggestions because I haven't found any myself!

Hi - Just in case anybody cares. From what I can tell, the Apple Pro Speakers only work with Apple computers. You can see the jack in this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-Pro-Speakers-Clear-M6531_W0QQitemZ8750886469QQcategoryZ80072QQssPageN ameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Looks like I'll have to look for something else.

FWIW, my Mac Mini is a standard mini-jack.

If you want to be able to fill a small room with sound I'd recommend Klipsch Promedia series.

I spent $300 on the klipsch set, which is great for computer stuff.

If I was listening to music, rather than windows utopia sound scheme, I'd probably check out these $179 swans multimedia spks.

In your other thread (same topic) someone suggested going to radio shack for an adapter...
