In Hong Kong, the media for radio is in asx or rm format. I want to know is SB3 support these format and how can I put it in the slimserver as default?

Please have a look at AlienBBC. This plugin allows you to listen to those
formats.

Try the Radio Tune in box.

If it works then add it to a playlist when it is playing to save it.

Try the Radio Tune in box.

I tried the tune in function, but don't work for asx and rm file format.

Radio Tune does work if AlienBBC is installed properly - so the problem is either, the station, the URL or installation.

Does AlienBBC work ok on your SB3 ?
Can you hear BBC Radio 1 - if so then rm is working.
Can you hear GWR - Beacon 103.1 - if so then WMA is working.

I think part of the problem is the WMA format of the station - it is WMA 9 8kbits/sec mono.

This url http://pshweb02.881903.com/apps/crmain/livebroadcast/cr1_local.asx
plays OK (using Radio Tune in) on Softsqueeze/Slimserver/AlienBBC on a Windows XP and a Linux system.

With the slow bit rate - AlienBBC has a large buffer and this means there is a very long startup delay - I timed it at about 35-45 seconds. If you don't hear anything after 45 seconds , I think you have an installation problem.

Yes, I may have installation problem, I can't play BBc station 1 in the slimserver.

If you want help post more details such as:
what OS you are using ?
What version of slimserver / AlienBBC / Mplayer have you installed ?
Do you see AlienBBC in the menus ?
Does mplayer work in the standlone test ?
Does AlienBBC appear to work but no sound when playing BBC R1 ?

I am using Window XP, the version of slimserver is 6.2.1, AlienBBC v1.00 and installed mplayer20051113.zip from the direct link of AlienBBC.
I can see the AlienBBC in the menu but no sound come out after connected to BBC R1.
I have run the

C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\mplayer.exe" -vc null -vo null -cache 128 -af volume=0:sc,resample=44100:0:1 -playlist http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/realplayer/media/fmg2.rpm

and I can hear the radio

Before check CR1 - you need to get BBC stations working.

To try to understand the problem you need to get some information logged when try to listen
to a BBC station.

Follow the instruction below.
1) stop the server probably using systray icon.
2) open a cmd windows [start, run, type "cmd" return]
3) cd c:\Program Files\SlimServer\server
4) slim --d_source
5) Now messages will scroll past.
6) Select a BBC station
7) hit CTRL/C to stop slimserver when you see repeating messages.
8) Select and copy the out by clicking on the small c:> icon in the top left hand corner of the cmd window. Select the "Edit" menu, use "Select All" then "Copy". Now you can paste the log into Notepad and save as a file.
9) The cmd box has a default length of 300 lines - so you should be able to copy 300 lines. If you need more lines to be logged.
click on the small c:> icon in the top left hand corner of the cmd window. Select "Properties" and you will Screen width & Length - typically change it to 150 wide and 1000 long.

Post the log as an uploaded (probably zipped file) to the forum and it should provide info as what is going wrong.

I don't know am I doing correct or not, just copy the log.

You're on the right track but the log posted is only the startup messages which is standard and is too short.

Let all the startup messages pass by. The select a BBC stations (R4 for example) and more message will go past. Then stop slimserver with CTRL/C. Select and copy ALL of the lines as explained. Open Notepad and paste into a file. Then add the file to a new post using the forum's "Attach file"/"Manage Attachments" button in the "additional options" section when replying to this post.

What we're trying to do is pin down the problem. With AlienBBc the "no sound"problems are typically either
1. Mplayer
2. Block in chain of apps delivering audio from Mplayer to the SB.

From your log I think Mplayer is working the problem likely lies in the chain of apps BBC-> Mplayer -> socketwrapper -> FLAC/Lame/nothing for WAV -> SB.

So if there is no sound then the problem is likely to be with one of the apps (e.g. socketwrapper) or something preventing an app from running. This is usually a firewall (E.g. Zonealarm which must be removed not just disabled) or an antivirus.

Make sure your firewall allows the following applications Slim.exe, socketwrapper.exe, flac.exe, Lame.exe (if installed) and wmadec.exe which are all part of slimserver / AlienBBC.

For testing can you disable Firewall and also AntiVirus and try again. If your firewall is Zonealarm then you should try uninstalling it.

I have disable the firewall (window) and NOD32 antiviurs. I don't have any firewall program such as zonealarm installed. The problem still exist. I found everytime I tried to paly BBC station, my softqueeze will hang.

A few more things to try

This occasionally works - increase the Radio Timeout (to 30 perhaps) under Server Settings, Network on the web page.

There is another possibility you could try - in post #4 there is a replacement for socketwrapper.exe
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19641

If the above don't work then more debug info is needed - don't forget to make the cmd window longer - 1000 lines and post log a good bit beyond where the firts Mplayer message appear.

To get more informative log files edit slimserver-convert.conf and remove the following where they occur
-really-quiet
--silent
--totally-silent
then change all references of #PIPE# to #DEBUGPIPE#

Now run the test agin and post the log
