I am currently adding album and thumbnail art to my music library, which is going well except for one problem. All of the albums that have no album art, thumbnail art, and nothing in the ID tags, display the same wrong thumbnail. What determines the image displayed in this situation?

Any info gratefully received.

Sorry if this appears twice .. think I loused it up first time!

If you have all your files in the same folder then they may be getting
artwork from a file in that folder. You can have artwork in the file
tags, but also as cover.jpg (or some other filenames) in the same
folder as the tracks you wish to have with that artwork.

you'll find greater detail on how artwork is handled by slimserver in
the help section of the web interface, under technical information.

I have all the music files in one directory (approx 1000)
Album Art .. named Artist-Album.jpg and Thumbnails named Artist-Album V.jpg in a separate Album Art directory.
SimServer is set to point to this directory
The thumbnail displayed is for a Papa Roach album (Perhaps thats the problem!) and I have been through all the tracks with MP3TAG looking for this artwork in the ID tags, the only place it appears is for the said album. Yet still it appears for all albums that have no artwork or ID tag setup.

Any other thoughts?

Do you find the wrong artwork on the Browse Artwork page only, or does
it show up when you are browsing down to the album level, with the
larger images? how about at the track level on the songinfo page?

Browse Artwork page is created during the rescan, so you might try a
full wipe and rescan when you are done. Are you deleting placeholders
(server settings->interface)? For albums with no artwork, it should be
showing as text only. If you delete placeholders, then only the albums
that slimserver thinks should have artwork will be shown. If you get
the wrong image, then slimserver thinks it is the right cover art. If
they go away when you delete the placeholders then slimserver realises
there is no artwork but is somehow serving up a picture when it
shouldn't. Which skin are you using?

The wrong artwork also appears at the album and song levels.
It is still wrong after a full scan, have done many while looking at this.
I'm running SlimServer Version: 6.2.2 - 5549 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252
The Web interface is Bagpus, but I have just tried default with the same result.
It was set to include all albums using placeholders, I changed this to remove placeholders, and did another full scan, but still get the same. I have checked some of the files that appear with the wrong thumbnail with MP3Tag and they have no picture in the tags, and do not have associated artwork.

Thanks for the help, I'll include all the important stuff with the first post next time

Since it is showing the wrong artwork during the browse albums, it must
be grabbing in somehow by accident. If you turn on d_artwork and watch
the log as you load an album page or songinfo page, it should show you
what files it looks for and what file it thinks is the right artwork.
You may have a stray folder.jpg or cover.jpg lying around. Having the
specified name in the settings only adds a preferred filename. it does
not override existing filenames that the server will look for always.

Think we may be getting somewhere now, I have set the d_artwork flag and then selected an album with a bad thumbnail and get this:

2006-01-10 23:34:11.6752 Updating image for file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/All%20Users/Documents/Music%20Library/Music/Everything%20But%20The%20Girl%20-%20Missing%20(Todd%20Terry%20Club%20Mix).mp3

2006-01-10 23:34:12.0648 Retrieving artwork (cover) for: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/All%20Users/Documents/Music%20Library/Music/Everything%20But%20The%20Girl%20-%20Missing%20(Todd%20Terry%20Club%20Mix).mp3
2006-01-10 23:34:12.0697 Found cached cover file: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Music Library\Music\folder.jpg

I have done a search and the file folder.jpg does not exist in any of the directories within my library. It says it using a cached version, I can only assume this means it is cached during the scan process as the problem still occurs after a full scan.
I have cleared almost all of the artwork ID tags from the files in my library and as far as I can see none of the remaining ones have the offending thumbnail.

Thanks again
